6 Ways to Promote Your Event Online

Do you have clients that want you to promote your events? Do they put as much time into promoting the Do you put just as much effort into promoting the events when they’re under way, and afterward, as you do before the big day?

I’ll bet they don’t.

That’s why I was thrilled to find these tips galore from social marketing expert Justice Mitchell on how to create social content to promote live events before, during and after they occur.

Even if you don’t do all of them for smaller events you’re hosting, you’ll find lots of new ideas like these:

–At 5:30 a.m. the day of the event, release a breakdown of the daily agenda and tweet agenda items at 15-minunte intervals.

–At 7 a.m., shoot Instagrams of your staff setting up for the event.

–At 8 a.m., take photos of people registering and upload to your Facebook gallery.

–After the event, send everyone who attended a survey and get immediate feedback. Ask questions that encourage constructive criticism.

–Use these attendees as a “think tank” for planning next year’s event.

–Create an updated version of your event page with the following year’s date and information. “If you don’t have it, that’s fine, but you can give a sense of the future and not just have a dead digital property until the next event occurs.”

Read all his tips on Social Content Marketing Planning for a Live Event.

Notice he encourages the use of hashtags throughout the entire PR campaign. If you aren’t sure what a hashtag is or why it’s important, you can get help. The video replay of a webinar hosted by Joan Stewart, “How to Use Hashtags: The New Search Tool” explains all the ways to use the symbol # in your social media messages and make it easier to attract new followers.

When you buy the replay, you’ll get a big bonus package that includes a checklist of questions to ask yourself so you create the most powerful hashtag possible.

My Date with an Author

OutlanderI have to admit, I have a guilty pleasure. I’m hooked on the Outlander series. I mean the whole kit and kaboodle. Not just the books, but the TV show on Starz. This started years ago with the first book, Outlander, written by Diana Gabaldon. That was back in 1991. Since then, I’ve followed the author and her all of her books. There are a total of 8 (so far) in the Outlander series. There is also the Lord John Grey series not to mention the pocket books, etc.

Now that I’ve admitted this, I can now share that I read anything that is Scottish Highlander related. I did a quick search the other night and found a few books that were recommended for us “Outlander finding fraserObsessed” reader! There was one that really caught my eye, Finding Fraser, written by KC Dyer.

Now as many of you know, the main 2 characters in the book are Claire and Jamie Fraser. I needed to look into this further.

I then downloaded a free portion of Finding Fraser and liked what I read so I ordered the whole book and proceeded to read the book. I have to say, I was hooked.

The characters, although not Claire or Jamie Fraser were enchanting and a delight. The main character, Emma, is on a quest to find her own version of Jamie Fraser. As he is otherwise known as “The King of Men” you can image that this was not an easy quest. Jamie Fraser is every women’s dream. Romantic, chivalrous, brave, smart and mostly, very easy on the eyes!

As I am the curious sort, I did a quick and dirty search online for the author, KC Dyer and I found her on Twitter. I then tweeted about the book and how much I was enjoying it. And, much to my surprise, she did respond (that is key). We had a short conversation on Twitter and I then invited her to an Outlander group I belong to on Facebook (I said I was obsessed!).

The whole point to this post is that because KC Dyer responded to my initial post on Twitter she was able to extend the conversation to the group on Facebook. She answered questions and was truly engaged with us.

That is how you use social media to sell more books, products or services. You engage with  your audience. It’s that simple!!

Now, go get engaged! HAH….

Scheduling posts at Google+

I recently ran into this blog post by Louise Myers, a social media and graphics artist and I just had to share it here.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to schedule posts to my client’s Google+ profiles and it is not supported by Hootsuite. The only way you can schedule posts for them is if they have a Google+ page as I do.

I am sharing this almost verbatum:

Want to schedule posts on Google Plus?

GooglePlus hasn’t seemed eager to allow scheduling.

I was aware of two great scheduling tools that include scheduling for GooglePlus Business Pages ONLY:

If you have a G+ Business Page and that you’d like to schedule (and your other social channels too), I recommend you check out these tools. I use and love both. HootSuite is my mainstay and sanity saver.

But neither allows posting to G+ personal profiles. And neither do Instagram or IFTTT (2 more sanity savers!).

I thought Google plus didn’t allow offsite posting, until I discovered DoShare.

DoShare is a Chrome extension that lets you write and schedule posts on Google Plus Pages and personal profiles!

It features:

  • Easily share links to Google+ from any tab on Google Chrome
  • Create a post, and schedule it for later. DoShare will automatically send it
  • Supports sharing to circles, +mentions, notifying circle, link sharing, reshares, and photo uploads
  • Supports sharing to Google+ communities
  • Supports Hashtag autocomplete
  • Allows you to share a comment from the Google+ stream
  • Bring out your inner author with a distraction free rich text editor
  • Save a draft now, edit it into a post later
  • Share a post directly from the stream
  • Share a post directly from the notifications panel
  • Quickly share to your personal page from your page’s stream and notifications
  • Supports Multiple Google login
  • Supports automatic numbering of public posts
  • Automates creating of polls on Google+

I’ve just started using this tool for myself and clients. It really works!

How To Use Twitter For Business
Learning how to use Twitter for business comes down to knowing how to start using a SMARTER feed. With today’s journalist shouldering more responsibility than ever before, it’s essential to master the art of pitching stories. The Nancy Reagan Approach to Content Marketing
